The morel sighting maps are a great way to help each other out a little. Morel hunters often refer to the maps as the morel progression maps, and they have always been a favorite. The Great Morel is often asked “Is it time yet?” or “Are there morel sightings in my neck of the woods?” The maps are a great resource on when one might begin their foraging adventure.
If you would like to submit a sighting, the guidelines are pretty simple fill in the form with a Zip Code, a City, and State, along with and date found. If you want to add any additional information such as county, weather or soil conditions, or an image that is fine (two-image limit). Sightings will be posted periodically throughout the day during the prime morel season.

2024 Morel Sightings Map
The 2024 Morel season is on! The first official Southeast report came in from Georgia in late February and the reports have been strong. The spring migration of the morel has been early, early, early – a common phrase from morel hunters reporting to the map. That being said, the morel season is upon us!

Note: the sighting reports are updated periodically throughout the day during the prime morel season. Markers are dropped on the map by Zip and or Town name, not actual GPS coordinates.

| 2 warm days (60-70) after a rainy week. 1st spot: Aspen, scouring rush, leaf litter. 2nd spot: dry now but usually wet area, windfallen trees, leaf litter, Aspen, cottonwood.

| Found 5 morels on a south-east side of a small hill around a recently deceased ash tree. It was a warm, moist spot on a roughly 60 degrees day after a few days of rain and high humidity.

 | 2nd score at my spot - 4/28/24 Found 20 or so more morels at my spot in the sycamores/ash most of then were over ripe so I spread them all over the area.one of them being quite possibly the biggest morel I've ever found! It was still under some of the leaves and had not even fully popped ip yet and it was almost the sizeof my head. The other fresh ones i found a few hundred yards away in a small shaded valley. One was 5 feet off the side of the path with the sunlight showcasing it right in front of my eyes. The other was at the base of a medium large poplar in mostly shade. Also found an itty bitty gray that just popped up right when I was in the thick of some brush and just told myself "alright its gnarly in here just gotta survive this point, probs no morels here anyway"
